        The most popular cultural dramas in Sri Lanka. From these,Sokari is the most popular because it was very close to the day to day life of villagers.This is a very interesting cultural drama independent cultural event.which is also connected to bless the people.

      Sokari is considered to be the oldest folk drama in the country.This is a kind of village drama belonging to the kandyan tradition.

       The story here may deferent slightly from region to region.

       Sokari is believed to have been based on the tamil folk drama Nattukuttuwa.

      The instruments used here the knotted drum, the tambourine and the trumpet. Sokari is Performed in areas such as Kandy, Matale,Kurunegala,Nuwara Eliya,Badulla and Kegalle.

    My village also has Sokari team. They play Sokari in different areas.

                     This is my village's sokari team 

     In last year, I participated to sokari drama in our tank field.The play stars Sokari,Guruhami,Paraya,Vederala, Gamarala and Gurunnance in the main roles.while Hettiya, Vadurala, and Kelama also play other characters.

      And  female characters are also played by men. Usually performed seven nights in a row.some characters are used the threshing floor as a stage. 

       In some areas sokari is performed as a tribute to Goddess Pattini.Sokari plays to wish good luck and prosperty to all. I think that It is our duty to preserve such cultural elements in Sri Lanka...✊✊✊
